DESCRIPTION
Education and Training Curriculum for Pediatric Palliative Care is intended to offer a core curriculum that can be used to design, develop, and implement individualized educational and training programs. Its contents are designed to be relevant to the needs of many, varied populations of health care professionals and others who work with or wish to work with children or adolescents who are diagnosed as having, living with, or dying from a life-threatening condition.

The goal of Education and Training Curriculum for Pediatric Palliative Care is to provide participants with opportunities:
·To obtain specialized knowledge.
·To acquire specific skills. ·To become aware of their own personal feelings and thoughts about death, dying, and bereavement.
·To develop attitudes that will enable them to provide quality care during a very significant period in the life of a child or adolescent and his or her family.

Its four main parts address:
·Principles of pediatric palliative care and their implementation.
·Care of children and adolescents with life-threatening conditions.
·Care of family members and significant others both before and after a death.
·Issues involving health care providers, the interdisciplinary team, and the community.
